T-Mobile USA down all over the place? (update: yes)
Posted Nov 3rd 2009 7:24PM by Chris Ziegler
We're getting reports from sea to shining sea this evening that T-Mobile service is down or intermittent on both voice and data -- particularly bad timing in light of the recent Sidekick drama. We've tested in New York and it's definitely down for us -- both voice and data -- so how's service treating everyone out there?[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
Update: We just got an official statement from T-Mobile, and it's confirmed -- service is down. Here's the statement:
Update 2: All service is now restored, according to the company -- they say about 5 percent of users were affected by the outage, though circumstantial evidence would certainly suggest that the number is higher (especially considering that New York City was one of the dead zones)."T-Mobile customers may be experiencing service disruptions impacting voice and data. Our rapid response teams have been mobilized to restore service as quickly as possible. We will provide updates as more information is available."

Its effecting my family big time, we can't call other tmobile people, thats my family, I can only call home. crazy.
Is this Project Black?? Out?
I was actually leaving to go to the T-Mobile store to switch from AT&T to T-Mobile because of all the dropped calls and service issues with AT&T. TWO MAJOR OUTAGES WITHIN 30 DAYS?!?! Unacceptable. Looks like I need to start looking at Sprint or Verizon...
Sell the latest, greatest, coolest phones that can’t make or take a phone call… looks like AT&T and T-Mobile have the same business plan.
Anyone know what is going on and why????
GSM?
Try Sprint. You won't regret it. Verizon is outrageous. The reason I'm saying Verizon is outrageous is that first, the charges and surcharges are ridiculously expensive. Second, their drop-calls rate is as much as AT&T. I've used almost all the careers and trust me, Sprint is the only career and I would stick to and will not change to any other careers.
When was the second outage? This is the first outage I've experienced with T-Mobile since I joined with them in 2002.
The first outage was a few weeks ago when all the SideKicks lost all of their data. Granted, 99% of subscribers got all of their data back. So it's not really T-Mobile's fault more then it is Microsoft/Danger's fault. Still, this is bad for T-Mobile's image.
I have at&t and have never had these issues. at&t has 3G,t-mobile doesn't. And at&t has very good cs;many credits to my account if I have any problems. Then again,I spend big money every month. Plus at&t has rollover minutes;they don't stop rolling over even after the year is up.
Down in Houston Texas
Same here.. well for my wife anyway, She's at school right now and was complaining about not being able to send messages to me, but so far it's been fine for me.
We had data but no voice. Everything is working now. The HotSpot@home VOIP service was still working though.
Orlando here. I still have service (3G shockingly, I rarely even see it; I'm afraid to move an inch). But my friend down the street is also voice/data-less.
3 lines + @home service all down in Houston. This sucks. Lets see which phone do I want for free now??? Any ideas....
I was thinking the same thing BUT my contract is up Nov 7th... guess which company/phone I'm switching to? ;).
NOT working here in BOSTON at all...T-Mobile is looking really BAD....
Its down all over San Diego, CA :(
Yep, down here in Vancouver, WA. bummer too, because I use the Tmo@home for home phone service, too! Maybe it's time to go with Magic Jack as a backup!
works just fine here in dallas
Down in Phoenix. I blame Obama.
+1
Blackberry service (data and voice) is working fine for me in Boston.
My BB is not working in Boston. Big frustrating time this afternoon.
Any Mobile, Anytime, here I come.
Hey, I have that plan right now on Sprint!
Down in Atlanta too. Stuck with the stupid family plan for another 13 months.
Down in Los Angeles ...
Down in Milwaukee, WI -- data and voice down for mobile, @home service is working.
I was expected two new client's an hour or so ago. Surely, I've lost these clients now that my phone service was down for over an hour.
The loss of business from these two clients is about equivalent of 5 years of T-Mobile service. Thank you T-Mobile! Thank you very much!
Interestingly enough, I was about to purchase the HTC Touch Pro 2 for a third line with T-Mobile. This interruption has changed my mind. This is a good sign to bail on T-Mobile and move on to iPhone.
Note: I just received a text message from T-Mobile saying..."Congratulations, you have successfully set up name@domain.com with your Blackberry(R) device. You should begin receiving new messages in approximately 20 minutes.
WoW!
By the way, I'm in Las Vegas, Nevada.
If you're looking for more reliable service, AT&T ain't gonna be better.
your and idiot just because of few flaws runnaway to ATT iphone really what will that fix your an idiot dont post anything
Alex,
It's incredible that so many are so dramatic about T-Mobiles's outage, and think that no one else is inconvenienced in any way. I have been with TMo since 2003, when I moved my six lines and two data cards from Sprint and have experienced very little problems but never this. I am not happy about this situation but I will survive it and I won't make ridiculous statements about leaving TMO. I know that some of my clients will try to contact me and if they know how valuable the relationship is, they surely how to leave a voice mail......
^^^ lol. grammar fail.
Extra ^^^^^^^^^^^ hahaha....
Down in Chicago.
It was down for me and my wife in Dallas and Richardson TX. I wonder if it has anything to do with the flood of all the iPhones being unlocked today?
Voice is down in Minneapolis.. seems like Data is fine though.
Down in Chicago...
MotoBLUR probably crashed it...
Here in Fort Worth, TX I can make a call on my unlocked AT&T phone but my dad is having problems with his Samsung Behold.
Just tested my 3G, wifi, texting, and phone service and they're all working as intended in Orange County, CA (10 miles south of Los Angeles).
Although I was experiencing some odd text delays earlier today. I figured it was just a fluke (it happens sometimes), but maybe this was the cause.
service down in chicago ,,
Baltimore here. Can't make a call or text to Facebook. In fact, this is buzzing from my Facebook friends
yeah...same here in Irving, tx ....i've been trying to call my friend for ride to school...but due to network problem i couldn't-alas!i have to walk to college 25 min.....so embarassing!!

Down here in Cleveland, OH.
I hope this ends very soon.. I'm on call at nursing homes and they send me pages via text. My facilities can't contact me if there's an emergency, and that's not good at all.
